Gain scheduling
Changing the controller tuning automatically as a function of operating point.
What it means
Gain scheduling switches or interpolates between tuning sets based on a measured variable — usually load or production rate. It is the standard workaround for a process whose gain varies substantially across its operating range.
It is a workaround rather than a fix. A flow loop needing gain scheduling because of equal-percentage trim would be better served by linear trim; scheduling is what you do when changing the hardware is not on the table.
